The theme of the 2024 Challenge was "Thank You Very Much". The Lakota word for remember is CHIQINIK GHELI which implies we owe a dept to those who came before, whose land we use each day. The 2024 Event marked our 10th Challenge and, beginning at Teddy Morse's Destination Daytona on August 4th, 2024, our next Challenge honored Jim's legacy by traversing the continent from the southernmost point to our northernmost finish line in Homer, AK! The 2024 Challenge was a year of "Firsts" for us. This is the 1st year we started the Challenge and purposfully rode into the path of a hurricane. We also: Welcomed our oldest finisher (Walter Ledig; #290, aged 80) Welcomed our youngest rider (Alexandria Sweeney; #1236, aged 18) Watched closely as our oldest motorcycle (a 1948 HD FL Panhead ridden by Sheldon "Hyde" Chaffer; #1002) crossed the finish line. It was the first time we got to witness a proposal of marriage at the finish line! We also exceeded our wildest expectations and raised a very impressive $1,171,695 for charities of which over $22,000 went to the Yaghanen Language and Cultural Programs as our organization's chosen charity. The 2024 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge, the Medicine Show LLC worked with the Kenaitze Indian Tribe to raise money on behalf of their Yaghanen Language and Cultural programs. These programs provide a space where youth come to develop life skills, learn culture, make friends and stay on track academically. This is an education, prevention and early intervention program open to kindergarten through 12th-grade students, offering a wide range of fun and educational activities.
