Welcome to Hoka Hey - Our Mission

The mission of the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge™, operated and presented by the Medicine Show LLC, is to provide participants with an opportunity to test their fortitude and determination. By facing and overcoming obstacles along the way, participants are encouraged to journey into a deep and critical examination of their own motives, actions and beliefs and then to translate newfound strength and confidence into a willingness to act on behalf of others.

Through the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge™, the Medicine Show LLC endeavors to:

  • Enrich - to cultivate a philosophy of respect, honor, integrity and compassion
  • Empower – to promote self- determination and strength
  • Unite – to join together to incite positive action.

    LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Because each Challenge begins and ends in a different location, the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge we have made it part of our mission to honor, recognize and support the Indigenous people from whatever area the Event is based in that year.

This process begins by opening a dialogue and asking for assistance in educating ourselves about the people and their Nation's history. With their help, we can educate Challenge participants that they, in turn, may educate others. Our hope is to help people to understand that Indigenous people are not just historical figures... That Indian people still exist... And that they are worth celebrating and supporting.

Land Acknowledgment is only one small part of supporting Native communities, however. We also hope to inspire others to stand together in solidarity with Native nations. Such Solidarity could potentially involve:

  • Donating time and money to Indigenous-led organizations.
  • Embracing Native culture and wisdom by helping First Nations to demonstrate their talents and gifts.
  • Amplifying the voices of Indigenous people who are leading grassroots change movements.

As Americans, we recognize the important contributions of Indigenous Peoples throughout history, and we wish to honor them for their stewardship of these lands. We sincerely thank all who have served, and continue to serve, as caretakers of this great land.

We are grateful for the opportunity to live; work and enjoy this land and we are mindful of the need to reconcile with our Indigenous allies. We are committed to working together to make the promise of Truth and Reconciliation real in the Hoka Hey community.
