All we’re going to tell you about the route is that the first leg of the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge begins in Key West, Florida and runs approximately 1,000 miles to somewhere in Mississippi where you’ll find the first checkpoint. Here you’ll get a map for the next leg of the ride.
Checkpoints will be a good place to meet up with your support team, get stocked up on food and supplies and to give your scooter the once over. Riders will not be required to lay over at the checkpoints but facilities might be available if you want to rest up and hose down.
Plan to arrive in Homer by the 4th of July 2010 since we are planning a bash that will celebrate both the holiday and mark the arrival of the most hardcore bikers on the road that summer!
Participants should expect to travel along back roads and byways, sleeping along side their bike on the way. It doesn't matter that you may have to deal with hail storms, heat and scorpions. In fact, we're hoping you get it all - 'cause we aren’t planning to just give that half million dollars away!
Anyone who wants to participate but doesn't have the time, the inclination or the ability to finish should still consider joining us in Key West at the start of the Challenge - you will still be counted as one of a thousand riders who will go down in history for your part in this epic event; whether you make it to the first gas stop, the first checkpoint, the Canadian border or all the way to Homer, AK.
Do you hear them calling you?
